Near East Museum
The museum was created based on a collection donated by painter and collector Marcos Grigoryan.
In the Museum of Literature and Art after Yeghishe Charents, there is an exhibition “Near East Art” on the basis of Marcos Grigoryan’s collection, which includes 2500 original exhibits. M. Grigoryan has gifted the collection to Armenia in 1993.
The exposition is organized in 3 halls and includes Iranian, Armenian, European, American cultural values from the IV millennium BC to our times, namely Van’s Kingdom bronze, Elam’s glassware, Early Bronze Age shells, Armenian carpet weaving art items, Islamic Middle Age art, miniature, calligraphy, decorations, garb, Marcos Grigoryan’s personal works (soil artworks, paintings, carpets, etc.)
