MONUMENT TO GENERAL ANDRANIK (ANDRANIK OZANYAN)

1999

Architect: Ashot Smbatyan

Sculptor: Rafik Sargsyan

The statue of a prominent figure from the Armenian national liberation movement, the leader of the fedayeens Andranik Ozanyan, is installed in Vahan Zatikyan Park, located between Svachyan and Raffi streets in the Malatia-Sebastia district. This is the first statue dedicated to the esteemed commander erected in Yerevan. The grand opening took place on February 25, 1999, in honor of Andranik’s birthday. Initially, a gypsum model of the statue was introduced during the ceremony, but it was later replaced with a basalt statue in the autumn of the same year.

The commander is depicted seated in a slightly tilted posture with his hands resting on his knees. The height of the statue is 7 meters.
