Andranik Ozanian, commonly known as General Andranik or simply Andranik (1865-1927), was an Armenian military commander and statesman, a key figure of the Armenian national liberation movement. From the late 19th century to the early 20th century, he was one of the main Armenian leaders of military efforts for the independence of Armenia.


The grand opening of the monument took place on December 25, 2002.

The two horses of the monument symbolize Eastern and Western Armenia.

This is the second statue of Andranik Ozanyan in Yerevan. The first statue of the general was installed in 1999 in the park named after Vahan Zatikyan in the administrative district of Malatia-Sebastia.
