Early Middle Ages, XI-XIX centuries
State index: 1.11.7
The
cemetery is located on the 1st Alley of Noragavit 7th Street, on the left side
of the road, on a hillside surrounded by houses. It covers an area of
approximately 0.2 hectares and features dense burials.
In
the center of the cemetery, remnants of an early medieval chapel known as
Requiem have been preserved. On the southern side of the chapel, there is a
monument pedestal dating back to the 5th–6th centuries, along with one complete
and several broken sculptural khachkars. The cemetery also contains
rectangular, cradle-shaped, and gable-roofed tombstones, most of which are not
inscribed.
The pedestal of a khachkar dedicated to a priest from the 12th–13th centuries is situated here, as well as a khachkar of Mesrop from the 16th century, placed on the ruins of the chapel’s western part. The sculpture khachkar of Amir (16th century) is cracked, while the tombstones of Iskuhi (1386) and Maruk (1651) are inscribed.
