MONUMENT “ETERNAL FLAME” (MONUMENT TO THE FIGHTERS WHO DIED FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF SOVIET RULE IN ARMENIA)

Located in Yerevan’s 2750th Anniversary Park (formerly city boulevard, Stepan Shahumyan Park) connecting Republic Square and Stepan Shahumyan Square, between the fountains.
Built on the
occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Sovietization of Armenia.
On a three-step pedestal stand 5-meter-high pillars that join at the top with a wide copper ring, on which is written in embossed letters:
ETERNAL GLORY TO THE FIGHTERS WHO FELL IN THE STRUGGLE FOR SOVIET POWER.
In the center of the pillars is placed a bowl with an eternal flame. The monument is distinguished by its stylistic conciseness. The material is gray, finely cut granite. It is the first monument with an eternal flame in Armenia.
