The building is located at 25 Demirchyan Street, on the left slope of Kozern Hill, along Pushkin Street. The Composers Union of Armenia was established in 1932, the building was constructed in 1955. The compositional solution originates from the features of the site and expresses the dimensional position of the building. The staircase leads to the building from Saryan Street, on the side of Demirchyan Street it is located lower from the passage part. External two-stepped staircases lead to the lateral entrances. The semi-circular section that exits from the general surface of the building near Pushkin Street ends with a rotunda, where a beautiful panorama of the city opens.
The
administrative part of the Composers Union is located on the first and second
floors of the central part of the building, and a 200-seat hall is located on
the third floor. In the lateral wings are the residences (four-storey compartments
with 2-3 room apartments). Living rooms oriented towards Pushkin Street have columnated
balconies. The building is made of stone, with a midis layout, reinforced concrete
was also used. The façades are
covered with Ani orange tuff and are partially plastered. Elements of national
architecture were used in their decoration. It is one of the most important
public structures of the city, the creative union building, where was made an
attempt to mix the administrative and residential parts.
