Vahan Tekeyan was an Armenian poet and public activist. In his lifetime he was the most famous poet of the Armenian diaspora, and he remains a significant symbol of Armenian identity and cultural heritage.

He is regarded in Armenian literary circles as the "Prince of Armenian Poetry", as his poetry, especially his sonnets, are unparalleled in Armenian literature.

The monument of Vahan Tekeyan was solemnly opened on October 22, 1990, near the secondary school N92, which was named after the poet.
