Architects: Pertchanush Msryan-Oksuzyan, Henrikh Arakelyan
The house is located at 20th Zarobyan Street. It was built and dedicated to Avetik Isahakyan by the Government of Armenia, in 1946. The author of the project is Pertchanoush Msryan-Oksuzyan. The famous Armenian poet used to live in this house in 1947-1957.
In 1963 by the decision of the Council of Ministers of the USSR, the house was reconstructed and turned into a house-museum. The opening took place on November 30, 1963. It was rebuilt according to the project of Henrikh Arakelyan. It has a rectangular plan, and it is a half one-story, half two-story, black tuff building, with dimensions of 16 x 17 m.
The memorial section rooms are located on the first floor. On the second floor are the exhibition halls, where exhibits depicting the writer’s creative path are presented. The main façade is oriented towards south-east. The entrance with high fronton is slightly set back from the arched overall dimension.
The first-floor arched windows have semi-circular frames. The second floor is lit by chimneys. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the poet’s birthday, a red tuff mosaic pavilion was built with motives of the poem “Abu-Lala Mahari”. In the center of the garden there is a sculpted bench (architect: Rafael Israelyan), which was dedicated by the architects of Armenia on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the poet’s birthday. In 1988, renovation works were done inside the building.
The
House-Museum is one of the outstanding cultural centers of Yerevan, which
preserves and publicizes the life and rich creative heritage of the Master
through various events, acquainting them with both Armenian and foreign
