April 18 World Heritage Day
In 1982 the ICOMOS (International Council for Monuments and Sites) established a worldwide day about the conservation of monuments and historical sites and rich inheritance associated with them.
The aim of the International Day for Monuments and Sites is to promote awareness of the diversity of humanity's cultural heritage, its vulnerability, and the efforts required for its protection and conservation.
Each year, ICOMOS nominates a unique theme for the day, highlighting the importance of cultural heritage. This year, the theme "Heritage Changes" has been proposed.
The International Day of Monuments and Sites is also celebrated in Armenia, where various events are held, including educational programs, monument upgrades, and cleaning activities.
