XIII century

State index: 1.2.21

The cross-stone (Arm. խաչքար [khachkar]) is located on the right bank slope of Getar, on the  A. Shahinyan Street (formerly Avan XIV Street) near the 24th house, in a dense residential construction.

The cross stone earned the name Hazakhach due to its reputed healing properties. According to local beliefs, it was believed to have curative effects on patients with cough, particularly among children. It rests on an inscribed (1249) piece of massive rock decorated with crosses. The Hazakhach is a composition featuring a combination of large and small crosses, as well as vegetal and geometric woven ornaments.

Crafted from reddish tuff, its dimensions measure 175 x 80 x 27 cm.
