BAS-RELIEF “GIRL WITH A JUG”

Sculptor: Aytsemnik Urartu
Located on the northern edge of Abovyan Park, on the retaining wall surrounding the park, at the beginning of Saralanj Street. The author is People's Artist of the Armenian SSR, the first Armenian female sculptor Aytsemnik Urartu (Ter-Khachatryan).
Carved on a basalt slab measuring 1.70×0.80 m.
Water flowing from the jug in the hand of a young girl depicted in full
height falls into a small pool (0.5 m high) with a ¾ circle.
It served as a fountain, which had not been functioning for many years,
and the sculpture was damaged.
In 2023, it was restored by the Yerevan Municipality, the surrounding
area was improved, and the fountain was put into operation.
It is one of the successful works of monumental-decorative art of the
1930s.
