The model of the "Wait" statue was created by artist and sculptor Stepan Taryan in the 1930s from plaster. On the occasion of his 90th birthday in 1989, the government of the Armenian SSR decided to erect a statue of "Wait" in the Circle Park.
The creation of the statue was carried out by the sculptor's children (Suren and Anna). In 1999, on the occasion of Taryan's 100th birthday, the statue was gifted to Yerevan.
