DRAGON STONE

The dragon stone is situated in the 2nd block of Nor Nork, within the open-air section of the park along the edge of Gai Avenue. It is mounted on a two-tiered plinth adorned with boulders.
The
dragon stone was discovered in 1967 by Lavrenti Barseghyan at the bottom of
Vanki Lake (Tokhmakhan Gyol) in the Geghama Mountains and later relocated to
Yerevan in 1976. The stone is shaped like a fish, featuring a prominent head,
torso and tail. The head of the dragon stone is detailed with a clearly drawn
mouth, eyes and nostrils. The torso gradually narrows towards the tail.
Made
from gray basalt, it measures 3,4 meters in length and has a width ranging from
0,25 to 0,70 meters.
It
is associated with water worship in the Armenian Highlands.
