MONUMENT OF THE ARMENIAN DRAM

The
monument to the national currency of the Republic of Armenia, the dram, is
located in front of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia. It was
installed on November 22, 2008, on the occasion of the Bank Employee's Day and
the 15th anniversary of the issue of the Armenian dram. The sculpture is made
of bronze, placed on a stone pedestal rising from a polygonal platform. It
represents the symbol of the national currency - the double-sided letter Դ (D), the
horizontal key of which is double.
The
Armenian dram came into use on November 22, 1993. The symbol was drawn by Karen
Komendaryan.
