Traditional Armenian festival, Vardavar is considered one of the biggest summer holidays.
While it is primarily associated with the Transfiguration of Christ in the Armenian Apostolic Church, it also has pre-Christian origins. In ancient times, Vardavar was dedicated to the goddess Astghik, the deity of water, beauty, love, and fertility.
