1919
"Yerevan State University" was established.
By the decision of the government of the Republic of Armenia and the efforts of politician Sirakan Tigranyan, the "Yerevan State University" was established on May 16, 1919, and professor Yuri Ghambaryan was appointed as the first rector (1919–20).

1857
The first pharmacy was opened, which belonged to the Shakhnazarov. Construction began on a fountain in the town park.
1883
The Yerevan Hotel (now "Grand Hotel Yerevan") and the photo studio and workshop of famous photographer Leon from Tbilisi, opened on Astafyevskaya (nowadays Abovyan) Street.
