MEMORIAL COMPLEX DEDICATED TO THE 40TH ANNIVERSARY OF VICTORY IN WORLD WAR II

1985

State index: 1.7.3

Sculptor: Suren Nazaryan

Architect: Garry Rashidyan

The memorial complex has a staircase-shaped structure. Basalt steps from the street lead to the sculptural memorial arch (height: 15 m) placed on four circular granite platforms, the high reliefs of the left column of which represent the theme of war, and the right column - the theme of peace and creative work. The pedestal of the memorial arch is bordered on both sides by rectangular granite, low walls, on one of which is written in Armenian, and on the other in Russian: “1945-1985. DEDICATED TO THE GLORIOUS VICTORY OF THE SOVIET PEOPLE."

The middle part of the memorial complex is occupied by a stepped pool with fountains about 60 m long. On both sides of the pool are bronze sculptures: the one on the left is "Peace", the one on the right is "Dragon Slayer".

The stairs running parallel to the pool from the right and left sides lead to the highest part of the memorial complex, where a three-arched monument rises on a semicircular pedestal, from which a view of the entire complex opens.
