The
Union of Architects was established in 1932, the building was built in 1958 as
the building of the administration of the Union of Architects of Armenia and
the architect's house, which in 1978, during the celebrations of the 100th
anniversary of Al. Tamanyan's birth, was named after the famous architect.
In
1982, a building was added to the courtyard.
On
March 17, 2018, at the 19th Congress of the Union of Architects, the Union of
Architects of Armenia was renamed the Palace of Architects of Armenia.
The

columned lobby, which forms the edge of the open balcony on the second floor.
Two protruding side risalits are formed by angular covered tympanum-lodges,
which enrich the composition of the structure.
The
central part and the risalits have an elegant cornice-shaped dentil end.
National forms (cornice, capstone) are used in the plastic solution.
The
building is built of dark purple tuff, the caps are made of light yellowish
felsite.
The
floor plan solution is simple: the main entrance lobby, a cloakroom in the
basement, a hall and a foyer on the second floor. The side volumes of the first
floor contain the premises of the Union of Architects, and the exhibition halls
on the second floor.
It
is one of the most important public buildings in Yerevan. In terms of art, it
is a typical structure of the 1950s. It stands out for its successful layout
and delicate sculptural architectural details.
