ALLEY OF HEROES

Located in the Victory Park
Memorial Complex. The alley paved with concrete shaped slabs is 300 m long and
10 m wide. The alley is designed the way leading to the “Mother Armenia”
monument and the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. On one side it is bordered by a
wall made of gray basalt, on the other side it borders a green zone. On the
wall, 5 groups of sculpted memorial stones made of yellowish tuff are placed at
a distance of 40 m from each other (the first group has 5 stones, the others
have 3 each). The alley is opened by the 5 memorial stones placed side by side
in the first group.
The names of the Heroes of the
USSR and Knights of the Order of Glory are engraved on the stones in Armenian
and Russian (Marshal of the USSR, Double Hero of the USSR Hovhannes Baghramyan,
Double Hero of the USSR Nelson Stepanyan, Marshal of the USSR Hamazasp
Babajanyan, Heroes of the USSR Admiral Hovhannes Isakov, Hunan Avetisyan,
Sergey Burnazyan, Jahan Karakhanyan, Khachik Meliksetyan, Stepan Anastas
Mikoyan, Georgy Hakobyans and others).
The ceremonial opening took
place on Victory Day, May 9.
