The Museum of the outstanding filmmaker and artist Sergey Parajanov is one of the most visited museums in Yerevan.

In 1988, the Council of Ministers of the Armenian SSR allocated two adjacent buildings in the Dzoragyugh ethnographic district for a private house and museum for the world-famous filmmaker and artist Sergei Parajanov (Sargis Parajanian, 1924-1990). The project was developed in the Dzoragyugh ethnographic district restoration workshop (architect: Arshak Ghazaryan). The two-story building was constructed in the style of folk residential architecture, with wooden balconies and an inner courtyard. 


VISITOR INFORMATION

Sergey Parajanov museum was founded in 1988 and opened in 1991, one year after his death. It is one of the most visited museums in Yerevan. The museum preserves Parajanov's creative legacy, including collages, assemblages, film sketches, dolls, hats, personal belongings, and gifts from friends. In total, the collection comprises approximately 1,763 items. Sergey Parajanov's works are unparalleled in world art. His creations stand out for their exceptional craftsmanship, vivid imagination, and wit. The unique charm and brilliance of his works lie in the diversity of objects and materials he used. In Parajanov's aesthetic system, plastic arts, inspired by Armenian, Eastern, and European artistic traditions, hold a special place. Over the years, the museum has organized 67 exhibitions in more than 35 countries, including Germany, Turkey, Italy, Russia, the Czech Republic, Georgia, Poland, Belarus, Latvia, Slovakia, Slovenia, the USA, and others. These exhibitions were primarily held within the framework of film festivals or by invitation from renowned museums. In addition to exhibitions of original works, the museum has also organized photography exhibitions in various countries.
