Central Bank Visitor Centre (Armenia)


The concept for creating a Visitor Centre was adopted in 2007, taking into account the best practices of European central banks and standards and peculiarities of Armenia. The Visitor Centre is located in the historic building of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia.

The Visitor Centre of the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia is aimed to increase public awareness of operations and the role of the Central Bank by using various educational instruments, which include static, thematic and interactive demonstrations. Exhibition features 24 static displays and 2 interactive zones: a laboratory for checking notes and coins, an automated teller machine, 2 sets of multimedia games, a movie on the history of the national currency, 2 movies on the history and activities of the Central Bank, cartoon films about price and financial stability and financial system’s operations, and thematic video-clips.


Schoolchildren and students are the main target. Yet, the Visitor Centre is open to citizens as well who are interested in the history of money, the Central Bank operations and monetary policy.

The Visitor Centre is designed to hold training courses for teachers of schools of general education, thematic lectures and visits of target audience.

Exhibition facility occupies 2 floors with a total area of 500 sq. m.

  2. Currency of the Republic of Armenia

  3. Creation/manufacture of notes and coins

  4. Security features of the Dram

  5. Counterfeiting is crime

  6. Payment and settlement systems and payment cards

  7. Monetary policy

  8. International reserves management

  9. Financial system and supervision: supporting institutions, i.e. Financial System Mediator, ACRA Credit Bureau, Financial Monitoring Center, Deposit Guarantee Fund

  10. Open library

  11. Game room

  12. Cinema room

  13. Shop


The Visitor Centre is adapted to guests with physical disabilities.
