National Museum-Institute of Architecture after Alexander Tamanyan


The National Museum-Institute of Architecture after Alexander Tamanyan preserves and popularizes the creative heritage of Alexander Tamanyan, the founder of new Armenian architecture and the author of the master plan of Yerevan.


The Alexander Tamanyan National Museum-Institute of Architecture was founded in 1990 by Ashot Haykazun Grigoryan. A bust of Alexander Tamanyan is located in front of the museum, the sculptor is Artashes Hovsepyan.

The museum occupies a unique place in the cultural life of Yerevan. Exhibitions on the themes of architecture, urban development, and construction art are held here.


VISITOR INFORMATION


The National Museum-Institute of Architecture named after Alexander Tamanyan stores valuable materials on the history of architecture, urban planning and construction art, as well as on the activities of Armenian architects working in the homeland and abroad. The museum preserves and popularizes the creative heritage of Alexander Tamanyan, the founder of new Armenian architecture, the author of the master plan of Yerevan, collects archival, photographic, graphic, historical and economic, personal and other exhibition materials related to the architect's life and activities, and scientific research is carried out on their basis. The museum's collection includes about 3,000 documentary materials (author's projects, photographs and other documents) covering the years of the architect-researcher's life in Russia, Armenia and Iran.
