MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
National Centre for Aesthetics
Education for children and youth in fine arts, performing arts and music.
The
National Center for Aesthetics was founded in Yerevan in 1978, through the
efforts of art critic Henrik Igityan and his wife, teacher Zhanna Aghamiryan,
on the basis of the world's first children's art gallery established in 1970.
The Museum of Children's Art of Armenia soon created a large permanent
collection, including about 150,000 works from Armenia and 120 countries around
the world.
Today,
the center is engaged in the development, exhibition and preservation of
children's art, as well as aesthetic education.
More
than 2,300 children aged 6-16 study at the center annually, 1,635 of whom are
free of charge.
Originally
an institution with innovative approaches, since 2020 the center has modernized
its teaching methods and made them in line with the challenges of the time, not
only with educational, but also with conceptual approaches. Today, the center
has programs designed for children, adults and inclusive groups. The main
educational programs include various areas of art: fine arts, performing arts,
and musical arts.
The
Yerevan branches of the Center are the NCA Museum, Gallery, Small Theater, Art
Studios, Inclusive Center for Performing Arts, Metro Theater-Studio, Dance
School, and Music School of National Instruments.
The
Center also has branches in the cities of different regions of Armenia: Gyumri,
Vanadzor, Meghri, Sevan, Dilijan, Berd, and Goris.
