2003

State index: 1.1.17

Sculptor: Levon Tokmajyan

It is located in the southwestern part of the intersection of Shinararner, Estonakan, and Arakelyan streets in the Ajapnyak administrative district, within a residential area. The bust commemorates Soghomon Tehlirian (1896-1960), an Armenian avenger and survivor of the Armenian Genocide, who was a key figure in the national liberation movement. Tehlirian was a participant in the "Nemesis" operation and a member of the ARF. He assassinated Talat Pasha, the Ottoman Minister of the Interior and a principal architect of the Genocide, on March 15, 1921, in Berlin's Hardenbergstraße, Charlottenburg district. On June 2, 1921, the Berlin court acquitted Tehlirian based on the undeniable evidence of the genocide presented during the trial, as well as the pressure from progressive European public opinion. The bust is crafted from a single piece of basalt, and the central facade features an inscription։
