YEREVAN CHRONOLOGY
1917
Cognac can be bought in the store of the Yerevan Cognac Factory with the permission of the police.
If today in Armenia you can buy cognac at any time of the day and anywhere without a ban, there was a time when it was possible to buy cognac in the capital only with the permission of the police.
In 1917, the pre-revolutionary newspaper "Yerevan's Announcements" published a statement by the "Sons of Shustov" company that, with the permission of the Transcaucasian excise tax (by modern standards, the tax inspection) of the Transcaucasian region, cognac can be bought in the store of the Yerevan Cognac Factory with the permission of the police.
It should be noted that until 1917 inclusive in Imperial Russia, exported goods were subject to excise duty, for which a duty had to be paid. Excise tax was levied only on goods sold by individuals, including alcoholic beverages.
