MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
''Aguletsi'' Museum and Art Café
The house-museum of Lusik Aguletsi, a painter, ethnographer, and Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, exhibits unique ethnographic specimens that Armenians used in their daily lives.
The
house where the ethnographer, painter Lusik Aguletsi lived and worked for many
years, became a museum in 2019, at the initiative of her family members (her
husband is sculptor Yuri Samvelyan) and with the support of the “Aguletsi”
Foundation.
The
collection of Lusik Aguletsi is a unique intersection of time and space. For
years, Lusik Aguletsi has saved various cultural values from oblivion and loss and given new life
to them. She shaped the culture of wearing traditional costumes by her own
example, creating a unique collection of ceremonial culture, which is unique in
Armenia.
VISITOR INFORMATION
The Lusik Aguletsi Museum displays exhibits representing the cultural values of Armenians and peoples from different regions: antiques, furniture, tableware, ceramics, carpets, books, jewelry, etc., which Armenians used in their daily lives. It is noteworthy that all the items were purchased from Armenian families.
There
is an art cafe adjacent to the house-museum, where the cuisine, which is an
important part of Armenian culture, is presented in all its richness and
diversity. Here, guests are also offered dishes from Aguletsi’s family recipes.
