MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
Armenian Railway Museum
The exhibits of the Armenian Railway Museum present the history of Armenian railway transport.
The
Armenian Railway Museum was opened at the “Sasuntsi Davit” station in Yerevan
on July 31, 2009.
The
history of the railway begins in May 1895, when the tsarist government decided
to build the Tbilisi - Alexandrapol (now Gyumri) - Kars railway.
The
first train arrived in the Armenian Alexandrapol in the winter of 1899. After
that, the construction of the Alexandrapol-Yerevan railway began, which was put
into operation in 1902.
