SCULPTURE "LOVES, DOES NOT LOVES ME "
1967
Sculptor: Tereza Mirzoyan
2012, restorers: painter Anush Arakelyan
Sculptor: Getik Baghdasaryan
It is located 100 meters west of the intersection of Abovyan and Moskovyan streets, on the lawn. Sculptor Tereza Mirzoyan created the original copper sculpture in 1967. However, it was damaged and stolen in 1991. The current sculpture is a bronze replica, restored by Mirzoyan’s daughter, painter Anush Arakelyan, and sculptor Getik Baghdasaryan, based on sketches of the original. The restoration was carried out with the support of the Yerevan Municipality.
The sculpture was unveiled as part of the events celebrating the 2794th
anniversary of the foundation of Erebuni-Yerevan and the 90th anniversary of
Mirzoyan’s birth. It depicts a village girl seated on a low rectangular granite
pedestal, with her knees crossed and her posture slightly bent. Her dress
accentuates her waist, and her expression is thoughtful. On the small slab on
the northern side of the pedestal is engraved: “SCULPTOR TEREZA MIRZOYAN.
LOVES, DOES NOT LOVE.” The sculpture stands 1.57 meters tall, with the pedestal
measuring 0.15 x 0.50 x 0.97 meters.
