The monument to the world-famous marine painter Hovhannes
Aivazovsky (Ayvazyan) is located at the beginning of Moskovyan Street, in the
Ring Park, near the Yerevan Chamber Music Hall. The ceremonial opening of the
monument took place on May 1, 2003. The bronze statue depicts the artist among
the waves of the sea, bare-headed, wearing a long coat, holding a brush in his
right hand, and a palette in his left. It is placed on a two-tiered granite
pedestal, and the inscription HOVHANNES AYVAZOVSKY is engraved in Armenian and
Russian at the bottom. The height of the statue is 3.5 m.
