“ARMENERGY” HEAD OFFICE BUILDING
State index: 1.6.166
Architect: Hovhannes Margaryan
The building is located at the intersection of Abovyan and Isahakyan Streets, at 27 Abovyan Street. The composition consists of two symmetrical dimensions, where the residential and administrative parts are located (oriented towards Abovyan and Ishakyan Streets, respectively). These dimensions are connected with each other by a polygonal tower-shaped volume, where a triple-stepped staircase of the administrative building is located. In the administrative part, service rooms are placed on both sides of the corridor.
The residential area is of the usual multi-sectional type with two entrances. The external dimension-spatial solution is symmetrical (the exception are the wide balconies of the side facade of the residential part). Both parts of the building have four floors, they have a general cornice, which also passes through the upper part of the tower-shaped volume. The decline of the site along Abovyan Street is expressed in the conversion of the height of the first floor wall base. The façades are solved with rhythmically shifting stone pillars, that end with capitals of the classical order. The facets of the tower-shaped part form enervated pillars. The partitions are faced with gray cement. Classical formal-compositional forms are used in the architecture of the building.
In 1971 on the front side of the yard, a volume equal to the level of the 2nd floor was built, where the dispatcher service hall was located. It is one of the interesting buildings of the pre-war period (before 1941-1945) in Yerevan, a successful example of combining the administrative and residential parts into one common dimension.
