RESIDENTIAL HOUSE OF THE COMMITTEE FOR AID TO ARMENIA (CAA)

Located at 29 Abovyan Street, in the depth of the quarter.
The
project was brought from abroad, the name “Master Garegin” is indicated on the
drawings.
According
to the original design, the house was two-storied; during construction, a third
floor was added. A club was planned to be built in front of the building,
which, however, was not implemented.
Famous
figures of Armenian culture lived in this house: composer Spiridon Melikyan,
actors Mikael Manvelyan and Arman Kotikyan, writers Derenik Demirchyan, Nairi
Zaryan, and Vahan Mirakyan. In front of the building, there is a monument
dedicated to D. Demirchyan (1977, gray granite, architect Razmik Alaverdyan),
and the apartment of the famous writer was turned into a house-museum in 1977.
