SHOGHAKAT PARK
1980
Renovation: 2012
Located
in the Shengavit administrative district at 10/1 Hovsepyan Street, Shoghakat
Park was established in the 1980s. During the construction of the Spandaryan
(now Garegin Nzhdeh) metro station in Yerevan, the pool and fountains from
Suren Spandarian Square were relocated to this park, situated slightly to the
west.
The
park derives its name from the "Shogakat" TV station of the Armenian
Apostolic Church, which is located here. The park underwent a complete
renovation in 2012, funded through an open competition for creative project
grants announced by Yerevan Municipality. The renovation included repairing and
restarting the fountains, replacing the curbstones and tiles of the walkways,
installing new benches and decorative sculptures, constructing open and closed
pavilions, updating the irrigation system, and installing a new lighting
network. Additionally, flower gardens were created.
In 2023, a grand piano designed for foot-play was installed in the park. Shoghakat Park has become a popular spot for relaxation among local residents.
