The
monument to the USSR physicist, human rights activist, academician of the USSR
Academy of Sciences and politician Andrei Sakharov is located on Nalbandyan
Street, Sakharov Square. In 1975, Sakharov became a laureate of the Nobel Peace
Prize for his principledness and courage in the defense of human rights.
The
monument was installed in 2001. The monument is made of wrought copper and
basalt, the height including the pedestal is 4.5 meters.
