The monument to the prominent Armenian
composer, People's Artist of the Armenian SSR Alexander Spendiaryan (1871-1928)
is located on Freedom Square, to the right of the main entrance to the building
of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. The ceremonial opening took
place on November 17, 1957.
The bronze statue is erected on a pink
granite, stepped pedestal. Spendiaryan is depicted sitting in an armchair,
reading the score. The total height is 8.50 m.
