MONUMENT TO THE KING ARGISHTI THE FIRST

The monument of Argishti I, the powerful ruler of Van (Urartu) Kingdom (reigned 786-764 BC), founder of Erebuni-Yerevan city (782 BC) is placed on a two-stepped basalt platform on the square near the Erebuni Museum. The opening took place on June 22, 2002.
The monument depicts the king driving a chariot yoked by a pair of horses.
It is made of black and orange tuff. The dimensions of the sculpture are 7 x 3 m, 4 x 1.5 m.
