1896-1906
State index: 1.6.200.7
Located
on Tigran Mets Avenue.
The
factory complex of Yerevan resident and commercial adviser David Saradjian
(Sarajev) included a wine cellar, a spirit warehouse, a spirit distillation
plant, a heating station, storage buildings for various items, a two-story
residential house and office, a cooperage workshop, the factory owner’s
two-story house, and a one-story cognac factory. The annual total income
amounted to 4,338 rubles and 71 kopecks. The main products were wine and
cognac.
The
arrangement of the complex buildings was determined by their functional and
technological significance. The volumetric and spatial planning structure of
the buildings is not complicated. They are rectangular or nearly rectangular
structures in plan.
The
dominant structure in the composition of the complex is the spirit
redistillation building. It is a tower-like structure with a rectangular plan,
whose architectural system is notable for its structural features, emphasized
corners, and triple-arched openings and false windows.
The
buildings were constructed of roughly hewn or broken stone, while the
cornerstones were made of finely dressed tuff. The flat roofs of the
administrative building are beam-supported. The roofs are sloped and covered
with metal. Of the entire complex, only the redistillation building has been
relatively well preserved.
The
factory’s products enjoyed wide recognition.
