URUGUAY SQUARE

1997

Uruguay Square is located in Yerevan’s Kentron administrative district, along the road leading from Paronyan Street to the Hrazdan Gorge. The square was opened in 1997 in honor of Uruguay, which in 1965 became the first country to officially recognize and condemn the Armenian Genocide.

The small square features a circular flowerbed at its center, where the sculpture Dance of Fire (Lilith) by sculptor William Petrosyan is installed.
