SQUARES AND PARKS
VAHAGN DAVTYAN PARK
1970
Located in the Arabkir
Administrative District, between Komitas Avenue and Nairi Zaryan Street.
Among Yerevan residents, the
park is widely known as "Prague Park," a name associated with the
former Prague Hotel, which stood here during the Soviet period.
Since 2000, the park has borne
the name of the Armenian poet, publicist, translator, playwright, Honored
Cultural Figure of the Armenian SSR, and member of the National Academy of
Sciences of the Republic of Armenia, Vahagn Davtyan (1922–1996).
The park was renovated in the
2000s. Accessible ramps were constructed, the paving stones and curbs along the
walkways were replaced, and flowerbeds and lawns were created. In 2008, the
"Sasna Tsrer" ("Tsovinar with Sanasar and Baghdasar")
fountain-monument, created by sculptor Vigen Avetis, was installed. In 2010, a
monument to Vahagn Davtyan was unveiled.
Today, the park is one of the
favorite recreational spots for the residents of Arabkir.
