MARTIROS SARYAN PARK

1980s

Renovation: Architect Gagik Harutyunyan

Martiros Saryan Park is located between Mashtots Avenue, Marshal Baghramyan Avenue, and Stepan Zoryan Street.

At the center of the park stands a 6 m-high statue of Martiros Saryan (1986, white marble, sculptor Levon Tokmajyan and architect Arthur Tarkhanyan), the world-renowned Armenian painter and founder of the national school of modern Armenian painting.

On weekends, the park regularly hosts an open-air exhibition and sale of works by contemporary artists. For this reason, Yerevan residents also refer to the park as the "Saryan Vernissage."
