SQUARES AND PARKS
CIRCULAR PARK
1960s
Circular
Park is currently known as Youth Park. It begins opposite the “Ararat” Cinema,
where the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Mother Cathedral of Yerevan is located,
and, bordered by Khanjyan and E. Kochar Streets, extends to Moskovyan and
Isahakyan Streets.
The
master plan of Circular Park was developed in 1924, but it was only implemented
in the early 1960s.
Until
the 1960s, the area from the Chess House to the end of the park consisted of
private houses with their own fruit trees. However, by the late 1960s, these
were demolished.
The
construction of the park was carried out under the supervision of Fenix
Darbinyan.
During
the construction phase, the project underwent several changes, and the
originally planned area of 1200 hectares was significantly reduced.
In
the 1960s–1970s, Circular Park was enriched with monuments.
In
2005, the park was renamed Youth Park.
In
2021, a skate park was opened in the park.
