The

built. In the 1980s, the wing on Vazgen Sargsyan Street was built (architects:
Mark Grigoryan, Eduard Sarapyan).
During
the Soviet period, it was the main hotel of the city. In 1998, it was completely renovated in accordance
with international standards and renamed Armenia Marriott Hotel Yerevan.
The
central building located on the square has a concave outline corresponding to
the square. It consists of seven floors. The restaurant is located on the third
and fourth floors, and the rooms are on the fifth, sixth and seventh floors. The hotel includes a lobby and three dining
halls, as well as a cafe-restaurant on the first floor, a cocktail bar, etc. The
length of the facade is 172 m.
The
main facade of the building is distinguished by its rhythmic and vertical composition. Stone carving with
national ornaments is used in the decoration.
It
is built of stone, the walls are made of midis. The floor slabs and load-bearing
structures are made of reinforced concrete.
The
Armenia Marriott Hotel, together with the Trade Unions and Communications
Ministry building, which was designed on a similar principle, forms a separate
group and is separated from the group of government buildings by the major axis
of the square. It is one of the public buildings of Soviet Armenia from the
1950s, which plays an important role in the formation of Republic Square.
