WINEPRESS N 9 IN DALMA GARDEN
XIX century
The winepress is located in the northern part of the Dalma Garden approximately 330 meters northwest far from the boundary line of the “Yerevan Park” amusement center.
It was constructed in the XIX century, during the reign of Hossein Qoli Khan, the last Persian sardar of Yerevan (1807-1828), when the Dalma canal was reopened, new gardens were established, viticulture and winemaking gained new momentum, many wineries and cellars were built.
It has a north-south rectangular plan (dimensions: 11.60 x 5.80 m). It consists of two adjacent halls, one of which used to be a winepress, the other a shed (pantry). They have separate entrances from the west.
The
roof is broken, it might have been vault-shaped. The interior is filled with
rubble and no grape pressing basin or other details are visible.
It
is built from raw basalt, tuff, limestone.
On
the west side of the complex there is a rectangular economic well.
