STATUE OF POGHOS NUBAR PASHA

Materials used for the monument include bronze and granite. Poghos Nubar Pasha (Poghos Nubar Nubaryan, 1851-1930) was a renowned Armenian philanthropist and benefactor. He was one of the founders and the first chairman of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU), a leader in the Armenian National Movement, and the son of Nubar Pasha Nubaryan, a three-time Prime Minister of Egypt.
Poghos
Nubar Pasha led the Armenian diaspora delegation at the Paris Peace Conference.
His efforts led to the development of the Nubarashen residential district
(foundation laid in 1930, designed by architect Alexander Tamanyan), where
Armenians repatriated from Greece, France, Lebanon, Syria, and Bulgaria have
settled.
