MONUMENT TO CHARLES AZNAVOUR
2025
The monument titled "La Bohème" dedicated to the French-Armenian singer, chansonnier, composer, poet, writer, actor and public figure Charles Aznavour has been installed at Charles Aznavour Square in Yerevan. The monument is dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Charles Aznavour.
More than 60 submissions and over 100 sketches were submitted for the open competition to create the monument. The professional jury selected the work titled "La Bohème" by David Minasyan.
The unveiling ceremony took place on July 18, 2025, at Charles Aznavour Square in Yerevan, opposite the Moscow Cinema. Speakers at the opening ceremony included the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan, Yerevan Mayor Tigran Avinyan, the French Ambassador to Armenia Olivier Decottignies, Charles Aznavour’s son and co-founder of the "Aznavour" Foundation Nicolas Aznavour, and the monument’s sculptor David Minasyan.
The concept behind the "La Bohème" monument is based on the image of Aznavour accompanied by the audience’s applause during the performance of the song "La Bohème."
The statue was cast in Gyumri. It has no pedestal and is constructed on hands. It is made of bronze, marble and red enamel.
