WINEPRESS N 9 IN THE DALMA GARDENS
19th century
Located
in the northern part of the garden.
It
was built in the 19th century, when during the reign of the last Persian sardar
of Yerevan, Hussein Qoli Khan (1807–1828), the Dalma canal was restored, new
orchards were established, and viticulture and winemaking developed, along with
the construction of numerous pressing houses and cellars.
It
has a rectangular plan elongated along the north–south axis. It consists of two
adjoining sections, one of which was used as a winepress and the other as a
cellar. These sections had separate entrances from the west.
The
roof has collapsed and was most likely vaulted. The interior is filled with
debris, and no grape-crushing basin or other details are visible.
It
is built of unworked basalt, tuff, and limestone.
On
the western side of the complex, there is a rectangular utility well.
