WINEPRESS N 6 IN THE DALMA GARDENS
19th century
Located
in the northern part of the garden.
It
was built in the 19th century, when during the reign of the last Persian sardar
of Yerevan, Hussein Qoli Khan (1807–1828), the Dalma canal was restored, new
orchards were established, and viticulture and winemaking developed, along with
the construction of numerous pressing houses and cellars.
It
has a rectangular plan slightly deviating from the east–west axis. It is
ruined. The partially preserved southern wall is clearly visible; small
rectangular niches are present in it. The northern wall has been completely
destroyed. The remains of the other walls are covered with a stone-and-earth
fill. The entrance is not distinguishable. The roof has collapsed and was most
probably vaulted. The interior is filled with debris, and no grape-crushing
basin or other details can be identified.
Built
of unworked and roughly dressed basalt. Terraced vineyards have been preserved
on the northern side.
