HISTORICAL BUILDINGS
RESIDENTIAL BUILDING OF THE ARMENIAN RELIEF COMMITTEE
1928
State index: 1.6.17
The building is located on
Abovyan Street. The project was prepared abroad, and the drawings bear the name
“Master Garegin.” According to the original design, the house was planned as a
two-story building; however, a third floor was added during construction.
This building was home to
prominent figures of Armenian culture, including composer Spiridon Melikyan,
actors Mikayel Manvelyan and Arman Kotikyan, and writers Derenik Demirchyan,
Nairi Zaryan, and Vahan Mirakyan.
In front of the building, a
memorial stele dedicated to Derenik Demirchyan was erected (1977, grey granite,
architect Razmik Alaverdyan), and the writer’s apartment was turned into a
house-museum in 1977.
